WCW Superbrawl Wrestling

WCW, as we all know, is one of the two powerhouses of pro wrestling.
This is really their first attempt at making a playable wrestling game to
rival all of WWF's offerings in the console department. Do they succeed?
Let's see.
Graphics 2 out of 5
The graphics are simply abysmal. The reason it didn't get a 1 is because the
wrestlers are fairly well animated. However, this animation isn't enough to
boost this score. The ring looks horrible, the camera often gets in the way,
the fans look even worse, and the graphics are generally shoddy- not at all
like what we expect from a system that produced graphically-excellent games
such as Fatal Fury 2, Street Fighter 2, etc.
Music and Sound 1 out of 5
In-game music? None to speak of, at least none that is worth listening to.
I found myself turning the volume knob down on my TV because the music
and sound was so bad. The crowd cheers are more like a generic "white noise"
sound than what real crowds sound like. Horrible.
Game Challenge 5 out of 5
Game challenge gets such a high grade, not because it is a good game, but
because it is frustrating. Often, the wrestlers don't do what you want
them to. i found myself mashing buttons as my character on-screen stood
there as he got his butt whooped. The challenge is great, but again, not
because it is a good game.
Game Play-Fun 1 out of 5
Fun? You want to talk about fun??? I was screaming at the TV by the time I
was through with this game. I nearly ripped the game pak out of the Super NES
when i was still playing!! Finally, i turned off the Super NES, and sold
Superbrawl to my friend, who wanted it because he wanted to compare the
WCW and WWF games. I warned him...but he didn't listen.
Game Value
This game is good enough to warrant maybe 10 or 20 bucks, but not 50.
This game is horrible. value has nothing to do with this game- it was just
an entry into the wrestling world to compete with WWF. Generally, this
game was shoddy and unrefined. DO NOT buy this game- it's just not worth it

Superbrawl is a horrible entry into a genre graced by fine games like WWF Royal
Rumble and WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game. Skip this game, it isn't worth it.
