Secret of Mana

Reviewed by Jedi Zoccaa Welcome to my review of Secret of Mana, one of the best games in history, which, overall, scores high points in all fields.

Graphics 8 out of 10

The graphics are very good for a 16-bit system usual Japanese makers type. The Japanese video games are mostly the best with graphics, unlike American made kinds. Details are very precise, when playing, it is almost like watching an Anime cartoon. All of your Heroes can be told apart they actually look like someone you could meet in Medieval times. Townsfolk, though, are a different story. Its weird, you meet someone in one town and then in another, you see the same person except with different clothes and hair color.

Music and Sound 8 out of 10

The music is very advanced for its age. In 1994, the music and sound were EXTREMELY good, and yet, still with all of the "stereo and mono" sounds of our 64 bit systems, it sounds good. You don't hear those annoying "beeps and blips". Smooth, good music. Sounds actually SOUND like something you could hear.

Game Challenge 6 out of 10

For an RPG expert, it is a simple game. You could beat the game in say, oh, over a weekend if you had beaten it once before, and maybe a week if you had never played it. It is a simple game for those who may have only been barely introduced to RPG's, but don't get me wrong, its still a fun game. See below.

Game Play-Fun 9 out of 10

In this game, you have special little challenges to overcome, such as going on a wild goose chase after a guy named Joch, or helping the people of Kakkara find water. Its very easy, but very fun! For beginners, its even better, since you discover new things hidden in the game. The people, as a matter of fact, actually have personalities. Sometimes its even funny.

Frustration

There is hardly any frustration for a veteran game player, but for a beginner, they may find it difficult to solve riddles, and do what the game says. We all remember the "Four Seasons" for the first time :-)

Replayability 7 out of 10

Replayability is very iffy. It really depends on your patience, because you know exactly where to go but the game drags on with text. I mean, you could sit for five minutes listening to someone tell you where to go when you already knew where to go. The first time is great, the second is okay, and the third, well, get another game.

Game Value 5 out of 10

The game was $$$70!!!! That is HARDLY worth the price, almost like buying a Mario game for that much. For beginners, as stated before, it would be worth it. But for vetrans...well, get FF7.

Overall 9 out of 10

This game was a very great game I've beaten a million or so times, and it hasn't bored ME. But it may bore others. I absolutely love the game and still continue to play it with a vengeance.
