Graphics: Graphics are pretty good. Bosses in particular look wicked
and your ship is pretty good. Enemies are very original and are some
of the best in space shooter games.
Sound: Music is also pretty cool, very original and memorable. Sound
Effects really fit the theme of the game, though it would have been
better if they added some more.
Gameplay: A pretty cool space shooter game. Levels are nice and vary
a bit and at the beginning of the game you get to choose one of three
different planes to fight with. These each have different weapons and
I believe they are from the first two R-Type games, and then a mixed
one. What you choose really effects you later in the game i.e. what is
easy now might not be easy later.
Hardness factor: This game gets very hard later in the game, like the
last few levels, but before that it isn't too hard. Once you play through
the hard levels a few times you'll get used to them and they won't be too hard.
Overall: 7 out of 10. A pretty good space shooter and all around game
for the SNES. Definitely get this if you own a SNES and like space
shooters. Unfortunately, besides the game getting harder, there's
no replay value.
