Final Fantasy 3

Get the game at Amazon.com!

Reviewed by SizzleSword Well, this is my least favorite Final Fantasy, but I guess that it's still pretty good. Although we did not get the Final Fantasy that came between Final Fantasy 2 and 3, it's not hard to find out what's going on in Final Fantasy 3. It's the basic thing... A dude wants to take over the world, and you have to go and stop him. In this story, it's a man named Kefka. He wants to drain Espers (magical, powerful beings) of their power, and be the most powerful person in the world. So, the cast in Final Fantasy 3 (a lot of character) have to go and stop him. This is a long and hard game, so only play it if you're pretty good with RPGs.

Graphics 10 out of 10

I've never seen Nintendo use Mode 7 on the map screen in a game. They almost always use it when you're flying or sailing or something. Well, they used it on Final Fantasy 3. Anyway, the graphics in this game are mind-blowing (possibly the best I've seen on the Super NES). Each character looks great, and the enemies are really original, and also look great.

Music and Sound 10 out of 10

This game has great music, along with great sound effects. This game probably has the most different themes that I have ever seen in any game. From the Opera House, to the to the battle music, the music is great. I would also like to buy the soundtrack of this game too.

Game Challenge 10 out of 10

All right, this game is really hard. Only try to beat this is you're an expert RPG player. This just may be the hardest RPG that I have ever played, so keep that in mind. Not only are the battles and bosses hard, Square has also added some puzzles to magic the game a little more difficult. So, remember that this is a very hard game.

Game Play-Fun 8 out of 10

Although the game is hard, it's pretty fun at times... Even funny. There's lots of humor in this game... Not just straigh-faces (like in a lot of other RPGs). There's also little things like the Opera House that are fun to do. If you can stand the hard battles, puzzles, and bosses, then this game should be really fun to you.

Frustration

Yes, the game does get frustrating... Especially when you're not at a good level and you try to take on a boss. Getting all of Gau's rages is also pretty difficult to do, and you probably won't feel like getting them all. Again, if you stand these things, the game is pretty good.

Replayability 7 out of 10

Since this game's so long and so hard, it might be a while before you play this game again. If you really like to find out all of the secrets and things in this game, then you'll probably play it a lot... Even after you beat it. Finding all of the spells for everyone and getting all of Gau's rages will take plenty of time, so the game is still pretty fun after you've beaten it.

Game Value 9 out of 10

I traded Lufia I for this game, and I guess I'm pretty satisfied (considering that I bought another Lufia I the next day for $9.99). At Funcoland, this game costs $59.99, and I would only play that if I rented this game and liked it a lot (which I didn't... I didn't like it as much as I liked Lufia II or Final Fantasy). But, if you're a big Final Fantasy fanatic, you should get this game... Because you'd probably enjoy it very much.

Overall 8 out of 10

Although this game wasn't as good as Final Fantasy 2 (to me), it still is a really good RPG (considering that it's on the Super NES). I had a lot of fun with this game. You should check it out only if you're really into RPGs.
