7th Saga

Reviewed by Klash 7th Saga is a pretty advanced role playing game for the Super Nintendo system. While the game is hard, the graphics, sound, and monster and character design are great. You can choose between seven different characters in the beginning, and you will meet up with the others later on, which ones depending on who you are. There are several different paths to choose and many different endings.

Graphics 8.5 out of 10

The animation and movement in this game are the best for any role-playing game on Super NES except 7th Saga 2, but some of the caves and towers are terrible-looking. The best thing about the graphics is how the camera moves.

Music and Sound 8 out of 10

The music and sound is good, but they could have done better. Some of the fight scene music isn't dramatic enough, and sometimes the same tune is on for WAY too long.

Game Challenge 9.5 out of 10

This game is HARD! Make sure you gain at least 2 levels after each event, or you will find yourself in deep. The distances between locations are too big, and some bosses are nearly impossible. I'm not sure that this game is BETTER because of the difficulty, but it does present a challenge.

Game Play-Fun 7 out of 10

This game can get frustrating, monotonous, and dull at times. Some caves are endless and repetitive. On the other hand, the game has a superb and intriguing plot, and you do want to keep on going to the next location so you see what happens next.

Frustration

If you like frustration, this is your game. It's frustration and then some. Even my friend who is an expert at RPGs finds it frustrating in the ways I gave outlined above.

Replayability 10 out of 10

There are 7 different characters to choose from, and each one has many different choices at different times, so you can play this game over and over again with different things happening. Only the locations are the same.

Innovation 8 out of 10

There are a few new things in 7th Saga. The monster radar was fairly new to American RPG audiences, adding an interesting new dimension to strategy. Also, when I played 7th Saga, I was not used to having so many options. That was nice.

Overall 8.5 out of 10

7th Saga is worth it. If you have the time and patience, this game is fun, challenging and good looking. Although it is very difficult, once you get used to it, it is the type of game you can play over and over again.
