The game is like a sequel to Super Mario World 2: Yoshis Island. Bowser
is still a baby and six (or 8) baby Yoshis are the heroes. Mario, however,
does not appear.
Graphics 5 out of 5
The graphics are awesome! The backgrounds look as if they're made of
real materials, like card-board, denim and news papers. And everything
looks just about 3D. You might even say they're better than Mario 64.
Mario 64 may be in 3D, but how often have you seen a game like Yoshis
Story, with textures and newspapers as the backgrounds. that was really
Music and Sound 4 out of 5
The sounds are pretty good, except that in some levels (2-3: Jelly Pipe)
the backgrounds music gets repeated over and over ( YOSHI, YOSHI...). in
other levels, like tower climb, the music varies with Yoshis mood. when
he's happy, it's steady and clear. when he has no flower petels, it plays
uneven and half out of tune. the Yoshis don't say much, except when they
sniffed something good or ate something bad. theres also that annoying
phrase that repeats itself at the end of each page ( be careful, be carful....).
Game Challenge 4 out of 5
The game isn't so hard to beat, since you only have to play six levels and
two bosses. however, you can challenge yourself to get the best high score,
by collecting 30 melons and all the coins and killing all the baddies.... the
bosses are easy to beat, and to collect thirty fruits isn't all that hard.
Replayability 3 out of 5
You usually want to play it at least six times, to have all the levels in
trial mode. after that, you can leave it and play only trial mode, or erase
it all and start over. However, sometimes that's not such a good idea. Some
levels are tough to beat: 6-3 & 6-4. Sometimes you want to get the high
score, other people like beating the game.
Game Value 4 out of 5
Though it's not the best game, it's defiantly worth the price. $40.00 isn't
a lot for a game that just got released. It's also original, Yoshi is a popular
character, and you cant get far just renting it. It is a great game.
