Warp code

Press Select before entering another screen to warp to the end of that screen. You can do this in caves and outside to find MANY different things of use. You will need this code for A LOT of the tips listed below. Look for the key work "warp."

Glitch world

Sent in by Steve and Joe This glitch will work as early as when you beat the level 1, but its better to do once you have the flippers. Go to the boss room in level 1, and equip the feather. Go to the top left corner, and jump into the hole. Continue jumping and press up, and when you appear in the dungeon room below, you should jump up and hear a door sound. This may take a few tries to get it right. Now you are in the glitch world. Don't go up at first, or you will leave the glitch world. You can wander through most of the levels, and they will all be messed up. You need the flippers because many of the walls are water. To get out of the Glitch world, just go through any staircase or door, and you will be where that staircase or door comes out in the actual level.

Transformations

Sent in by Frog In the forest, put dust on the raccoon and he turns into Tarin. One screen right of the forest, one screen down from the heart in the plus, use dust on the guy who waddles and he gets eyes. In level 8 use dust or the rod on the clay dudes and they become skull dudes. Use bombs on turtles and they turn into bombs. Use a boomerang on sparks to get a fairy.

Get the Yoshi doll without entering the trendy game

Sent in by Alex Racketa You can get the Yoshi doll without entering the trendy game by warping up from the room in the mysterious forest where you find a treasure chest with 50 Rupees. You will be on top of the ledge at the top of the screen. go right and you will be in the room where you are when you put the scale in the mermaid statue. You will be able to see the enemies. Go up and you will find the Yoshi doll.

Get keys from the Master Skull

Sent in by Greg Roberts In Level 5: Catfish's Maw, You can get keys from the Master Skull (the big skeleton with the Sword and Shield). You need bombs and arrows to do this: Strike Master Skull with a charged sword Blow, then Equip yourself with the arrows in A and The Bombs in B, Press both buttons simultaneously and hit Master Skull about four times, He'll explode and leave a key repeat this process in the rooms with two and three blocks in the corner and you should have enough keys to finish the Level. If you do this in the room with four blocks in the corners you will get the hook-shot as normal. This Missile trick can also be used on the mini-bosses in Level 5, but they are only vulnerable when they open their mouth.

Fishing warp trick

Sent in by Daniel Parker Go one screen down from the fishermen then go back up doing the warp thing. Then go up again doing the warp thing. After this go down to the half owl half goomba and talk to him. When he asks you if you want to go fishing say yes. It looks like you have a virus but everything is fine. From there go all around the messed up world. Sometimes land is water, ground is a wall, or walls are land.

L-0 shield

Sent in by Reed At the start of the game put your shield in your B button, then use the Select cheat and warp across the place where the sword is then on the next screen get the sword return to the place where you are supposed to get the sword talk to the owl instead of the sword it will be a shield get you will hear a noise look at shield in your b button it will be L-0!!!! It is like the L 1 or 2 shield but you can not see it.

How do you get through the 2nd room in Level 2?

Sent in by Tom Go into the second room from the first room. The second room has a locked door on the left, and a closed door on the right. You come from the bottom side of the room. Watch out for the one bad guy in the room, and go up the stairs you see before you and go until you are touching the empty lamps. Use magic powder that you get from the witch when you give her a mushroom, and put the powder in both of the empty lamps. Then the room will light up and the right door will open. Be sure you go to the next room before one or both of the lamps go out!

How do you crack the egg?

Sent in by Jonathon Eugene You must have all of the instruments, the ocarina with Marin's wind fish song, and the magnifying lens. Go to the library and read the book in the lowest left. remember the arrows. Go up to the egg, equip the ocarina and play it the song plays and a Link-sized opening appears on the egg. The owl comes again and some more boring monologue. Go up two screens and you will fall. The arrows in the book were directions. Go the way it told you to and you will fight the boss(es)

Where is the Nightmare Key for catfish Maw?

First, you must face the Master Stalfos 4 times. To defeat him all 4 times, strike him with your sword until he collapses into a jumble of bones. Then, put a bomb on his bones. Go find him the first time, go left 2 rooms from the entrance and up 3 rooms. To find him the second time, from where you fought him the first time, go right one room, up one room, left one room, and back to the right one room. Push a button on the floor to open the right door. Then go down one room, back up one room, and right one room. To find him the third time, from where you fought him the second time, go left one room, up one room, left one room, and up one room. To find him the last time, from the entrance to Catfish's Maw, go left three screens and take the stairs. When you exit the passage, you will fight the final Master Stalfos. If you defeat him, you get the Hookshot. Once you have the Hookshot, from the entrance to Catfish's Maw, go left 2 rooms, up 3 rooms, right one room, up one room, left one room, and up one room. Dive into the dark water by pressing A, and you will enter a side- scrolling area. Exit the side-scrolling area to the left. Use the Hookshot to pull the bridge across the gap. In the chest on the other side is the Nightmare Key.

In the Bottle Grotto, how do you get the Nightmare key?

Sent in by Bowser Collect the keys first. After opening the locked door where you fight the spiny beetles, you will enter a room that has only one door (which is the one you entered through). Push the two blocks together to open a secret passage. After going through the passage, you will be in a dark room. Light the lanterns and go through the spinning door and destroy the Hinox which should open a permanent warp. Find the Power Bracelet which will allow you to lift heavy objects. Find the next key by switching the crystal ball back and forth. Go to the strange room that only has three enemies in it which include a bunny, a keese bat, and a mimic. First destroy the bunny, then the keese bat, and finally the shrouded stalfos. This pattern should make a treasure chest appear which contains the nightmare key.

How do you get the Magic Rod in Turtle Rock?

Sent in by Yannick It is located in Turtle Rock, in the upper-right corner. You must have found the first six Small Keys to reach it. To get there, from the starting point, go up two rooms and right one room. Push the Flashing Block right to the wall, then straight up all the way. Go up one room, right two rooms, up one room, then left three rooms (using a Bomb). Unlock the top block, then go to the right one room along the top of the room. Hookshot to the bottom middle of the room, unlock the locked block, then take the stairs. When you exit, go down one room to find Blaino. Avoid Blaino's attacks, then hit him from behind several times to defeat him and open a door going up. Go up one room, then open the chest to get the Magic Rod. If there are three blocks in the way, hit the Crystal Switch near the start of the level, then come back to the chest.

Nightmare tip

Sent in by Kevin Cosgrove When beating the nightmare, when he does his wing flap move and shoots things that look like leaves go to the top of the screen and you will dog the move (you will still be pushed but nothing will happen)

Extra full heart container

Sent in by Kevin Cosgrove Get the 5 golden leaves for Richard. When he moves the table go in and you'll be in a to screen cave. Go to the 2nd screen (were the stairs are) and then go back to the 1st screen doing the warp code. Then you'll go into a glitch screen. Press A + B + Select + Start and go to save and quit. Go back in and do the same thing a couple of times and then you'll fight the 7th castle nightmare. Kill him and get an extra full heart container.

Wind Maramba tip

Sent in by Witchdoctor You can get an instrument with nothing not even the nightmare key. All right in the fifth level go left twice kill everybody in that room and the left door will open.go in it and down the stairs there will be a thingamajig, there jump on it and the other one will go up, jump when its by the edge and climb down the ladder and warp to the left, then walk left and you'll be in a messed up room. Just walk left and you will fall in the room you would of been at if you went up the stairs, but anyway go straight up into the north wall then into the east wall and you will see a Mr. Write Spider. You can't just walk up to it because your blocked by an invisible block just jump around the stand and you will get the Wind Maramba pretty soon.

Get to the Face Shrine quickly

Sent in by Adam Wheeler On the screen between BowWow's house and the fishing pond with your Pegasus boots, slam into the side of farthest to the left tree-pod thing. If you want to get to the Face shrine quickly go to the screen with BowWow's house warp on your way to the west. Then when you are in the water swim west but warp between screens. When you are fighting the bad guy in the Egg when he becomes the sorcerer looking guy watch out because he shoots some things that you cant hit back to him and your shield won't block. When you are fighting. If you do a warp in the cave with a staircase that is surrounded like a plus with pits (its in the caves in tal tal heights) and you go east on top of the cave you see like a diseased Manbo with his fishy friends.

Find the five gold leaves

Sent in by Brian Pugach To find the five gold leaves, you must first get into Kanalet Castle. To get into Kanalet Castle, win the Yoshi Doll in the Trendy game. Go to the house north of the village. talk to the mother and the baby. The mother will ask you for the doll. Give it to her and you will get a ribbon in return. Give the ribbon to the dog in the left part of Madam Meow-Meow's house. She will give you canned dog food. Give the dog food to Sale who lives in Toronbo Shores. He will give you bananas. Give these to Kiki the monkey who stands before the entrance of the castle. Kiki will give you a very important secret in return, plus a stick. Click here

Defeat the nightmare in Bottle Grotto

Sent in by Brian Pugach To defeat the nightmare in Bottle Grotto, hit him with a sword while he is following you. Then pick him up with the power bracelet and throw him. He will again throw fireballs. Dodge them and repeat this three times. After his bottle has been thrown tree times, it will shatter. Then you can just hit him with your sword.

Magic powder secret with the raccoon

Sent in by Brian Pugach Once you're in the Mysterious Woods, you must go through a cave. At the other side of the cave is a mushroom. Pick the mushroom. Now head northeast of the woods. You will find a witches hut. Give her the mushroom, and she will turn it into magic powder. Try sprinkling this powder on the raccoon for a secret.

Tail Cave trick

Sent in by Brian Pugach Stuck in Tail Cave? There's a room in the cave that you need a key to get into. The room has a door that slams when you approach it. Try pushing the block in front of it. The door should open. In the next room, you will see two spinned creatures. Just as it says to do in the stone tablet, turn them over with a shield. Then hit them twice with the sword. A passage will open that leads to the Rock's Feather.
Sent in by Brady (You need the flippers and the Roc's Feather to do this trick.) Go into the Tail Cave and go to the room where you fight the Nightmare. Fall into one of the pits. Right after you fall into the pit, hold up and jump with the Roc's Feather. If you did it correctly you should land in a really messed up area. If you walk in certain places they warp you back to the Tail Cave. If you walk in certain spots you can get to other dungeons, and while you are in them you can walk through walls. You can still do this trick without flippers, but I highly recommend flippers. Don't use flippers and see what happens. (It's not a good thing.)

Gaining Powers

Sent in by Gladius Gaining Powers (Note: All of these can and should be done immediately after gaining the sword.) Power Bracelets 1 and 2 After retrieving the sword, go to the mushroom cave. From the screen with the Gels, warp left, then walk left thru the wall. (If you get stuck, Save & Quit.) From the weird room, walk south. You are now on a ledge. DON'T JUMP DOWN!! Walk left but don't go to the next screen. Walk north and open the chest you saw for the Power Bracelet. Walk south, then turn around and open the chest again for the Lv. 2 Bracelet. Walk south from the chest. Again, don't jump down. Walk east, then north. Position yourself above the Heart Piece, then walk south to get it. Save & Quit. Roc's Feather After gaining the Lv. 2 Bracelet (see above), push the Rooster statue and enter the cave. From the bones room, warp south and walk thru the wall. (This is the last time I'll say this. If you get stuck, Save & Quit.) You are now in a weird Tail Cave. Get the Feather just as you would in the real Tail Cave. Save & Quit. Flippers After gaining the Roc's Feather (see above yes, all these tricks require the one previous to it, so if you haven't done one, you probably can't do any.) Warp to the weird Tail Cave again. Carefully avoiding the Sparks, go west and kill the Gels, as they interfere otherwise. Go back east and position Link next to the barrier. (Not the cave wall.) Equip the Roc's Feather. Warp west, and go thru the wall. When you start to fall, IMMEDIATELY push up and hit the Feather button rapidly. If done correctly. Link will fall into the pit below Moldorm, bounce back up, and appear on a glitch screen. Go to the glitch screen's bottom , turn left, then walk to the bottom left corner. Follow the glitch screen's left wall north until you get to Angler's Tunnel. Pegasus Boots Repeat the trick above, but instead of turning left on the glitch screen, turn right. Tricks with Marin (Note: All of these tricks require that Marin is following Link.) Dungeon Try going into a dungeon and watch Marin's reaction. Walking on water Go swimming (if you used my "Gaining Powers" tricks, you'll have the Flippers.) and watch Marin walk on water.

Warp anywhere

Sent in by Gladius Experiment with the Warp everywhere, especially in caves. The best cave is the mushroom cave. Warp onto its ledges, and you can go virtually anywhere on Koholint Island.

Fisherman's warp

Sent in by Gladius When fishing, choose not to continue. While Fisherman is talking about "You have to have more passion!", hit A, B, Start, and Select. Choose Return to Game. Link can now swim in the Fish Pond. Swim left off spring and you'll go to the Raft Shop.

Locations of the three MadBatters

Sent in by Tony Fisher First: In Mysterious Forest, under a rock is a staircase go down to find him. Second: By the ghost's house is a staircase surrounded by bushes and blocked by some pits. Do a running jump and while you are in the air equip the sword to cut down the bushes. Go down stairs and walk through cave (must have flippers), when you exit the cave you should be in a place surrounded by trees. There should be a cave go in there to find the second MadBatter. Third: On the mountains Toward Turtle Rock (dungeon #8) There is a rock pick it up to reveal a staircase, go down them to find the third MadBatter.

How to use the 3 cards in the Tail Cave

Sent in by C Wright You must hit the cards to stop them. When you stop them all on the same suit, you get a stone tablet that lets you read messages on the wall.

Get the L-1 and L-2 power bracelets before even stepping into Bottle Grotto

Sent in by Adam S Goldsmith This trick allows you to get the L-1 and L-2 power bracelets before even stepping into Bottle Grotto! First start a new game from the beginning. Go through Level 1 and save BowWow like you normally would. After you save BowWow, don't exit the moblkeins cave. In the room north of the entrance, press yourself tightly against the right side of the doorway leading to the room you start out in. Now stand still. Now move south and do the screen warp when you do. Now head north as quick as you can, and you will appear to be in Eagles Tower! But open the chest in front of you and there will be the L-1 Power Bracelet in it! Now go south and kill the enemies in the room and get one of the 5 Golden Leaves! Now Save your game and quit. Repeat this again and you will find that the chest is closed again. Open it to find the L-2 Power Bracelet!

Skip giving back Richards golden leaves

Sent in by Adam S Goldsmith This Top Secret allows you to skip giving back Richards golden leaves, and giving the Monkey the bananas in trade for the stick! This is one of the easiest tricks to preform. Before you preform this, make sure you have the shovel. From Richard's Villa go north, north. Now you should be in a screen where you are blocked off to an owl statue by these donut type things. Now line up with the opening on the opposite side of the screen, and then go west. Now go back east doing the Screen Warp. You should be at the opening on the other side of the donut things. Go up to the owl statue, chop the bush out from in front of it, and it is important that you read it first, or this will not work. Now dig where the bush was and it appears that you have a Golden Leaf, but it actually is the Slime Key. If you go back to Richard's Villa, he thanks you for returning his leaves. And you don't need to give the monkey the bananas because When you find Tarin, he will take the bananas to knock the honeycomb down, but it still looks like a stick. My explanation for this is that the game expects you to have the Golden Leaves to get the Slime Key so when you get the Slime Key, so it just thinks that you haves and returns the leaves for you, and the reason it makes the Slime Key look like a Gold Leaf is that the game is a bit confused. And it gives you the stick because it also is needed. NOTE: The Slime Key will remain to look like a Gold Leaf on the sub-screen until you insert it into the Key hole.

Get all of the items before you beat Level 1

Sent in by Adam S Goldsmith To preform this Secret, you must have preformed or at least be able to preform the last two secrets above. This trick allows you to get all of the items before you beat Level 1 so you can beat all of the Nightmares with ease. First, go to the place where the mushroom is then Screen Warp north and then go east to get the Tail Cave Key without bothering Tarin. (the raccoon) Then go down to Tail Cave and get the Roc's Feather then leave. Now go to the Moblins Cave and do the "Power Bracelets of Eagles Tower". That takes care of the items in Bottle Grotto and Face Shrine! Now go preform the "Liar", go to Key Cavern and get the Peagusus Boots, then head to the Dream Shrine to get the Ocarina and then have Marin teach you the "Ballad of the Wind Fish". Now, go to the Animal Village, get the Honeycomb. Then use the Screen warp to get past the Walrus in front of the entrance to the Yarna Desert, and DON'T enter any of the caves in the desert, or you will have to screen warp past the Walrus the other way. Once you get the Angler's Key, Save and Quit, and you should be outside of the Yarna Desert. Now go into Angler's Tunnel and get the Flippers. Now you can find the time to get maybe 20 of the Secret Seashells and complete the Trading Process, get the magnifying glass, and then go down to Toronbo Shores two screens east of where the sword was and go in the cave and trade the creature in there the shovel for the Boomerang. Hit sparks with the Boomerang and they turn into Faries! Anyway, go to Catfishes Maw and get the HookShot, and then leave. Then DON'T go into Face Shrine, since you already have the item from that level. Instead head to the Signpost Maze and follow the signs EXACTLY and then pay the frog the 300 rupees to learn the "Song of Awakening/Soul". Then go back to Maybe Village and push aside the Memorial to the Flying Rooster and enter the cave. Once inside, you will see the Flying Rooster. Only one problem: He's not sleeping like the weather vain said. He's dead. Play the 3rd song on the Ocarina and he will come back to life! Now you can grab on to his legs with the Power Bracelet and you can fly over bottomless pits! Check this out. Launch the boomerang and before it comes back to you, grab the Flying Rooster. You now have an awesome weapon, and you are invincible until you let go of the Flying Rooster. The Boomerang will make a circle below you to plow down the enemies! Anyway, Link has to get on with his mission. Now go to the Tal Tal Mountain Range in the eastern parts and use the rooster to fly over the pit and get the Bird Key. Now head for Eagles Tower! When you are in there, it would be helpful to knock down the Pillars, to get it out of the way. Once you have obtained the Mirror Shield, leave for Turtle Rock in the Western parts of the Tal Tal Mt. Range. Drop down the hole outside and go east of Anglers Tunnel and enter the cave with the picture of the Fish on it. Inside you will meet Mamu, child of the Sun Fish. From him you will get Mambo's Mambo, song #2 on the Ocarina! Once you have reached Turtle Rock, go inside and defeat Blaino (mini-nightmare DO NOT defeat the nightmare HotHead) and get the Magic Rod. By now you should have enough rupees to buy the bow and should have by now! IF you don't have the L-2 sword GET IT!!!! It is in Seashell Mansion after collecting 20 Secret Seashells! Now you can get the Instruments of the Sirens!

"Kill" Marin

Sent in by Adam S Goldsmith To "kill" Marin, give BowWow back to Madame MeowMeow and use the screen warp to get the Angler's Key, and then go get Marin. Beat Level 4 and when you come out, she is a ghost!!

Get the Invisible shield

Sent in by Adam S Goldsmith To get the Invisible shield go to Toronbo shores as soon as you get your shield from Tarin in the beginning of the game. Go to the place where the sword is and don't get it yet!!! Then warp one screen to the right. THEN get the sword on that screen. Then go back to where the sword was originally and get the shield there and then it will be invisible, L-0 shield! This one is my favorite.

Extra 1/4 heart piece

Sent in by Adam S Goldsmith This only works at the beginning of the game or BEFORE you get the heart piece west of Crazy Tracy's Health Spa. To get an extra heart 1/4, go to the screen west of Crazy Tracy's Health Spa, the one with the heart in it. No line up so you can screen warp into Crazy Tracy's. Once you Screen Warp, there will be 1/4 of a Heart Piece on the stairs to Mambo's Pond. Screen Warp back west to the screen with the heart piece over the holes, and that one is still there!

Get Marin to follow you everywhere except in the dungeons

Sent in by Adam S Goldsmith This trick will get Marin to follow you everywhere except in the dungeons. Instead of getting Marin to sing for the Walrus blocking the yarna desert, go inside one of the houses in the Animal Village. Now Save & Quit. When you return to the Animal Village, go south and go to the screen with the Walrus. Line up with the northern part of the opening, go West and then head back east and Screen Warp past the Walrus.

Get 60 bombs for 10 rupees

Sent in by Adam S Goldsmith This trick allows you to get 60 bombs for 10 rupees. Before you buy any bombs, go to the bat under the rock in the Mysterious Woods, and tell him you want to carry more bombs. Then go to the Town Tool Shop in Maybe Village and then buy some bombs. It says 10 Bombs on the product, but when you look at the sub-screen, you have 60! Try this with Magic Powder too!

Lost lives counter doesn't increase

Sent in by Richard Pantoliano If you try to save while Link is spinning after losing all of his hearts, you will go to the menu that allows you to save and quit or return to the game. Choose to save and quit. When you go back to the game select menu, you will find that the counter that shows the number of lives that you lost has not increased. This trick will not work if you try it when you go back into the shop after stealing an item.

Killing the bird

Sent in by Stephen At Level 7, knock down the pillars and then before you beat the semi-master and the master, leave and go to level eight, there beat the round and go back to level seven. Now beat the master using the magic rod, it takes only 2-5 hits to kill the bird (usually 2).

Look at the painter's picture in Animal Village

Sent in by Matthew Reimer You can look at the painter's picture in the Animal Village by going up to it and pushing the A or B button.

Beating the last boss

Sent in by Adam L. The final boss takes lots of forms, and has lots of weaknesses. The first form, the Gel, is weak against Magic Powder. When fighting Agahnim, equip the Feather and Sword. Press both buttons simultaneously when he shoots something. That way, you hit his orbs and jump over his energy balls. The Moldorm is pretty much like the original--just hit the tail. Use the Pegasus Boots and Sword on Ganon, charging at him 2-3 times before avoiding his fireballs. One hit from the Magic Rod will kill the Lanmola, and a boomerang-feather combo will get rid of the Dethyl.

Slime Key and 5 Golden Leaves trick

Sent in by Adam Goldsmith Before you beat Bottle Grotto, go to the same screen as the Slime Key, only you should be in the place where you can't reach it because you are blocked off by those donut type things. Now go west and go back east only this time, screen warp so you can get the key. When you dig it up it looks like a Gold Leaf. CONGRATULATIONS!! You just got the Slime Key and returned Richards 5 Golden Leaves at the same time! You also changed the bananna's into the stick and if you use the screen warp to get into Koholint Castle, you will find that the Gold Leaves look like Slime Keys! (The Slime Key looks like a Gold Leaf on the sub screen too until you put it into the keyhole.

Warp using ceilings in caves

Sent in by Adam Goldsmith Try using the screen warp to get on the ceilings in caves. You can walk to the nearest cave in either direction. Try it. There is one cave that when you walk north you will end up in Eagles Tower, except it looks like a cave.

Fishing pond warp

Sent in by Kevin Lyons Go to the screen below the fishing pond. Warp up. You'll be on the tree and the fisherman will be on his roof. Go up. You'll see Ulrina's wife in the forest wandering around shooting arrows. The only way out is to play Manbo's Mambo on the Ocarina.

How to beat the final nightmare

Sent in by Govaerts Johannes First you use the Magic Powder on the blob (3 times). Then it transforms in to some kind of magician. You use your sword to reflect his spell, it will fly to him and hit him. Then it will transform in the boss of dungeon number 1. You of course know how to beat him. Now it will transform in a guy wit a double axe: use your sword and Pegasus Boots and jam into him. Right now he will make a sound that makes you think he's been beaten. Take your shield and bombs: Protect yourself with your shield and when he has driven you in a corner, drop a bomb. The last boss will come up. Arm yourself with the bow and Roc's Feather. Shoot him in the eyes when it's open. Jump over the arms like this: stand on the right and jump. You're supposed to still be in front of the eye.

Magic powder trick

How to get the Keys

Sent in by Navonod Semaj Key 1: Tail Key. Give the mushroom (H-6) to the witch (F-7) for the Magic Powder OR obtain it at the Trendy Game. Sprinkle the powder on the raccoon (B-6) to turn him into Tarin. Go north on screen to B-5 and open the chest. Level 2 (E-3) requires no key, but you need to get Bow-wow from the Moblins (F-4) and use him to eat the flowers in the swamp so you can get to the entrance (E-3). Key 3: Slime Key. To get the Slime Key, you must first talk to Richard at his villa (G-14) and then go to his castle via the back entrance by following the parameter of the castle west and north until a stairway is found (it will be under a bush). Two of the five leaves that you must retrieve are outside the castle, at I-6 and K-6. To get the leaf, defeat all enemies on the screen. Enter the castle at J-7 to get the other three and to activate the switch that opens the front door of the castle. Once all five are found, return to Richard's villa and he will show you a cave which has a Seashell in it and leads to G-13. Dig near the owl for the Slime Key. Key 4: Angler's Key. To get the Angler's Key, bring Marin to the walrus at the entrance of Yarna Desert to sing. When he's out of the way, fight the worm at O-13. Don't worry if the key falls through the center of the room, just follow it in. Bomb the north wall after collecting the key to find a room with a piece of heart in it. Level 5 Requires no key and is accessible only with the flippers. Dive around the parameter of the stone walls surrounding it until you find the secret path to the other side of the wall. Key 6: Face Key. Make your way through the maze of columns and Armoses (use your shield to bump the live ones or shoot them with arrows after you touch them) to the structure at M-11. Once inside, defeat the monster and claim the key. Go north to read the stuff about the island. Then exit the building and go to Level 6. Key 7: Bird Key. With the flying rooster, go into the cave on this screen that has a room that is mostly a giant pit. Pick up the rooster to cross around to safety and claim the key. Relax now, 'cause this is the last key you need to grab. Level 8 requires no key. Just play the third song you learned (from the fine folks in the river) at the entrance (A-2) and defeat the turtle's head with your sword. If you have the L-2 sword, it shouldn't take long. Finally, to get into the egg, you must play the Ballad of the Wind Fish in front of it after getting all of the instruments. If you haven't done so already, go to the Library (A-12) and read the "Secrets of Koholint Island." This requires the Magnifying Glass. Make a note of the directions shown in the book. Once inside the Egg, go north. You will fall down a pit (the first two rooms are dark, don't bother trying to light them). From the room in which you land, go through the rooms using the directions you read in the book. If you do it correctly, you will come to another room with a pit. Go down this pit and face the final nightmares.

Go anywhere in the world

Sent in by C.J. Hess To get a weird warp, find the fisherman in the village, go to him, say no, then warp down a screen (go down and press Select). If you did this correct, he will appear in the tree. Talk to him and say yes, this will bring you to a strange screen. Push up to go through the doors. Everything will be messed up. You can go anywhere in the world now. The ground is shallow water, and the holes are rocks.

Get free Magic powder, bombs, and arrows

Sent in by Zak Millar In some tunnels you find a strange sort of shrine, with two statues and a well between them, sprinkle some magic powder in the well and a sort of demon will come out saying he wants his revenge. If you say you are ready for his revenge he will give you 40 magic powder. If you say no he will give you 60 bombs and if you say no again he will give you 60 arrows. This keeps going in a loop. You can refill up to these levels afterwards.

Boomerang/Rooster trick

Sent in by Adam and James Throw the boomerang and before it comes back to you pick up the Rooster the boomerang will fly around and kill enemies until you let go of the Rooster.

Location of the boomerang

Sent in by James Bunn Not many players know about the boomerang. It is a kind of hidden item. To get it, you must beat level 5 and have the shovel. After you beat level 5, you have to find where the boomerang is held. Starting at Marin and Tarin's house, go Left, Left, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Right, Right. You should be at Sale's Banana House. Then go one more screen right and one more down. There will be a spot in the wall that you can bomb. Bomb it and go in. There should be a moblin-like person in there. He will trade the boomerang for your shovel.

Arrow/bomb missile

To build a missile, place the arrows in one hand and bombs in the other. To fire, press A + B simultaneously.

Crane game trick

This technique is a little more effective way to get things on the crane game. Your timing must be just right, or you'll never get it. To do this trick, put the crane on the upper left hand side of the screen with the shadow over the left moving conveyer belt. Wait until what you want is in the lower right hand corner to drop the crane.

Stealing

To steal, take what you want, stand above the shopkeeper until he is looking at the top of the screen, and run out the door while he's looking up at the top of the screen. If you did it right, you should leave the store and get a message at the top of the screen. If not, keep trying. If you steal from a shopkeeper you can never return. Doing so is a death sentence!

Swim around and collect items

First get the Flippers and the Rooster. Go to the Raft Shop and ride the raft left to the second waterfall. Drop down the right side of it and press Select as soon as you disappear off the screen to see the map. Return to the game and you'll land on an island. You can now swim around and collect all of the items. Use the Bracelet to grab the rooster and you can collect the floating items.

Listen to different background music on the Player Select Screen

Select an empty file and enter ZELDA as your name. It must be all capital letters to work. The background music of the Player Select screen will change.

Paths to the Wind Fish

Once you obtain the magnifying glass, go to Mabe Village's library to read "Dark Secrets and Mysteries of Koholint Island." You will get one of the following paths to the Wind Fish: Path 1 - Right, Up, Up, Right, Up, Up, Right, Up. Path 2 - Left, Left, Up, Right, Right, Up, Left, Up. Path 3 - Left, Up, Right, Up, Left, Up, Right, Up.

Get attacked by chickens

In Mabe Village, start whacking the chickens with your sword. If you attack long enough, a whole flock will attack.

Another way to steal

Here's another way to "steal" an item. The only catch is that you must have enough Rupees to buy it. As soon as the shopkeeper starts taking down your Rupees, push A, B, Select and Start. This will take you to the save game screen. Choose to save and quit. Your Rupees will still be there and so will your new item!

Make Marin mad

When Marin tags along, she's quite talkative. She will get mad at you for breaking pots and for hitting chickens. And she really hate's it when you dig with the shovel.

Marin picks up Mr. Trendy with the claw

When Marin's along, enter the Trendy Game. She'll take the controls and move the claw so it picks up Mr. Trendy.

Marin falls on you

If Marin is along and you fall down a ledge, if you don't move away, she'll land on you and flatten you. She's apologetic, but it still hurts!

Magic powder tip

You can do some interesting stuff with the powder. Try sprinkling it on the Ghost's Grave, the trees in front of the Seashell Mansion, and the bones in the desert.

Another Magic powder tip

Try sprinkling Powder on some enemies. They may turn into enemies that are easier to defeat.

Always get a small heart from Goombas

When you see Goombas in this game, stomp them instead of slashing them. They'll always give you a small heart.

Make Pols Voice self-destruct

Play the Ballad of the Wind Fish for Pols Voice and he'll self-destruct.

Use the boomerang to get a faerie

If you use the boomerang on a spark, it will turn into a faerie.

Trick with the Power Bracelet, Rooster, and Boomerang

When you have the Power Bracelet, Rooster, and Boomerang, you can put all three items together to make an awesome machine. Grab on to the rooster's legs and launch the boomerang. Instead of coming back to you, the boomerang will circle around you, mowing down enemies.

Get hearts form the three enemies with changing suits

You'll come across three enemies with changing suits. When you stop them all on the same suit, they'll disappear. If you stop them all on Hearts, however, they'll turn into hearts. Replenish your life meter with this trick.

Use the shovel to run

Have Link equip the Boots and the Shovel. Start to dash with your boots, but before taking a step, use the shovel. Link will start running in place until you press the control pad.

Mushroom tip

Instead of running and getting the mushroom and giving it to the Witch, just pick some up from the Trendy game.

Bombites tip

Defeat the Bombites in the Dungeons using Bombs and they'll leave a lot of bombs behind.

Walrus sticks his head out of the water

If you play the Ballad on the screen Walrus appears on, he'll stick his head out of the water. Apparently he likes Marin's singing better because he soon ducks his head back in the drink.

Armos Statues tip

Instead of defeating the Armos Statues in the Face Shrine, just use your Shield to push them out of the way.

Agahnim's Shadow tip

When facing Agahnim's Shadow, use the Shovel instead of the Sword to reflect his spells. The shovel is larger and easier to use.

Dethl tip

When facing Dethl, use a boomerang instead of Arrows. He is much more hurt by those than the arrows.

Ending tip

If you finish the game without losing a life, instead of a seagull flying over "THE END", a winged Marin will fly above.

Location of the Seashells

One screen down from shop in town. Chop the bushes away. Buy a shovel and go into the doghouse at Ms. Meowmeow's. Dig all around. In Level 1, bomb the wall with holes in it. After getting the power bracelet, go into the Mysterious Woods from the village, go right, and lift the rock away. After giving Richard the five golden leaves, (see below) go down the stairs and take the left path, open the chest. Go into seashell mansion. Dig above level 3 in the middle of the grass circle. Don't chop the grass! From seashell mansion, go down, left, down, down. Then lift up the rock. From #8 seashell, go to the left once and go in the cave. Bomb around the upper wall. Go in the cave made and outside. Dig below the sign. The lowest and farthest right corner of the island. Look under a rock. Go into seashell mansion. From the witch hut, go left and down, dig under bush without chopping grass. When the ghost starts following you around, take it to it's house, then to it's grave, then you go back to it's house and lift up pots by the door. After getting the flippers, from the ghost house, go right twice and swim to the island and pick up the bush. From seashell #14, go up and right, then chop bush away. From level 3, go right once and swim up once. when on the island, chop the bush facing down. In level 6, go farthest up and farthest left corner, clime the stairs. In front of the castle before stepping on drawbridge, go left and use flying rooster to jump across the pits to the stairs. From the hen house on the mountain, go right twice and pull up rocks. In the first cave going to level 7, bomb on the single sand square, go in the hole made by it, and out on the cliff, and open the chest. Now go to seashell mansion for a surprise!

Location of the Flute

Go up from the shop in town and go in the dream shrine. Get the second treasure chest.

Songs

Talk to Marin as soon as you get the Flute. Outside level 4, go left once, and go in the cave. Make sure you have the flippers. In the screens with the signs start with the first one and follow them exactly. Make sure you have the Hook Shot.

Geting the sword

Inside seashell mansion after collecting all the seashells (see above). Play the game at the bottom of the village and get the doll, give the doll to the woman at top of village, give bow to dog it the doghouse, give canned food to alligator on beach, give bananas to monkey, give stick to Tarin at bee's nest, give honey to bear in animal village, give pineapple to man by the hen house, give flowers to woman in animal village, give letter to Mr. Write, give broom to woman inside animal village, give fishhook to fisherman under the bridge close to animal village, give necklace to mermaid in bay, give scale to mermaid statue, go inside and get Magnifying glass. Watch out for the invisible enemy.

Directions for inside the egg

With the Magnifying glass, go to the library and look at the last book at the end of the row in the last row. It is the directions for inside the egg.

Location of the Heart Containers

After getting the sword Go to the left two screens from Marin and Tarin's house and jump into the well to collect a Heart Piece. Go to the Fishing Pond north of Mabe village and catch the big fish siting under the land to find a Piece of Heart. After getting the Roc's Feather Look for a Heart Piece surrounded by pits left one screen and up two screens from the Witch's Hut. After getting the Power Bracelet Enter the Mysterious Woods from Mabe Village and take the first right. Continue right until you see a cave entrance. Enter the cave and follow the path. When you reach the room with the Heart Piece, lift the skulls to reach it. After getting the Pegasus Boots Enter the Yarna Desert and go up three screens. Drop through the sand pit and, when you land, use a bomb on the top wall. Enter the cave that is created to find a Heart Piece. Go right one screen, up one screen and right three screens from Tarin and Marin's house and then bomb the top left wall. Enter the cave and use the Pegasus Boots to smash through the blocks. work your way up to the top right corner of the cave and start using bombs on the right wall. When you locate the opening, enter and get your Heart Piece. After getting the Flippers From the Angler Keyhole, go left one screen, down one screen and right one screen. Enter the water and swim left three screens and down four screens. Press the B button to dive underwater; you'll find a Piece of Heart if you dive in just the right spot. From the Angler Keyhole, go right three screens and jump in the water. Swim up to the cave and enter it, then dive around under water until you locate a Heart Piece. It is about in the middle of the screen. After getting the Hook Shot From the entrance to the Animal Village, go down three screens and right one screen, then up three screens. Use a bomb on the wall and enter the cave that appears. Inside the cave, bomb the top wall, then go up one screen and left one screen. Use both the arrow and the bombs at the same time to create a bomb arrow to blow up the cracked block. Next, go right one screen, down one screen, left one screen and up one screen. Use the Hook Shot to reach the Heart Piece. From the Lone Grave, go down one screen and right one screen, then move the rocks to find a stairway. Take the stairs and go right one screen. Use the Hook Shot to reach the Heart Piece. From the hen house in the Tal Tal Mountains, go left three screens and lift or cut the bush to locate a hidden stairway. Take the stairs, then go down to the bottom of the screen and bomb the bottom wall. Follow the path to a Heart Piece. After getting the Mirror Shield From the entrance of Turtle Rock, go up two screens and push the moving rock right up to the wall, then straight up. Go up one screen, right one screen, up two screens and left four screens and take the stairs. When you exit, climb up and grab the Heart Piece.

The Level Keys

First go to the log cave and enter, walk trough and out the other end, get the mushroom and go to the witch. Have her turn it into powder. Go to the Raccoon and sprinkle it on him. Go up and get the chest. Get the five golden leaves (see below) and bring them to the prince. Then go down the stairs and take the right path. Make your way trough the field and to the sign. Dig below it. Go into Yarna Desert and go up three screens. Fight the monster without falling down the hole. Go to the ruins above the Animal Village. Awaken the men to make a path to the structure and go inside. Go up one screen to the monster. Put your Roc's Feather in the B button and Arrows in the A button. Jump when the monster lands and hit him with the arrows. Go in the cave under the hen house and use the flying rooster to fly across the gorge to the key.

The Five Golden Leaves

From the front gate inside the court yard, go left and up to where the crow is in the tree. pick up a rock and throw it at the crow. When the crow flies, hit it with your sword. From the front gate inside the court yard, go right and up to the star shape of pits. Kill the guy in the holes. Go inside castle and go left. Kill everyone in the screen. Go upstairs and down into the room with the stone like characters in the wall. Bomb the left knight. Go outside on the top level and go inside the second door. Hit the closed door with a pot. Go up and kill the knight inside.

How to defeat the level bosses and the monsters that guard the keys

Arm yourself with the Roc's Feather and your sword. Hit him with your sword and when he comes to push you off, jump him. Arm yourself with the Power Bracelet and your sword. The Genie will hop toward you in his bottle. Hit him with your sword to stun him, pick him up and throw him against the wall three times. Then when he becomes invisible, just keep moving back and forth. When he becomes visible dodge the blast and hit him with the sword. At the start arm your self with the Pegasus Boots and sword. Ram the wall with your boots. then when the slime eye drops down start hitting with your sword until he is almost apart then run through him. Now arm yourself with the Roc's Feather and hit one of the eyes and when it comes down jump. Arm yourself with your sword. When the fish comes by keep hitting him with your sword. Arm yourself with your sword and Hook Shot. Get to a corner of the screen and when he pokes his head out, get it with the Hook Shot and pull him out. Then hit him with your sword. Arm yourself with bombs. When the face appears, throw bombs at the center of the head. Look out for the pieces of floor. Arm yourself with Hook Shot and shield. When the eagle swoops at you hit with the Hook Shot and block his feathers with the shield. Don't fall off or he will heal. Arm yourself with Magic Rod. Shoot the hot head with your rod when he is in range. Key boss 1. Arm yourself with your sword and Pegasus Boots. When the sand worm pops up, hit him with your sword. If you start to fall in the hole in the middle of the screen, just run out. Key boss 2. Arm yourself with Arrows and Roc's Feather. When you get in the screen hit him with arrows and jump when he slams down on the ground. Watch out when his mask falls off. He goes nuts.

Sent in by Gladius With the following code, you can get the Lv. 2 Sword and Mirror Shield at start of the game. 02C-56B-E6E + 02C-74A-E6E You must use this on a new game or there will be no effect. With this code, Tarin will give you the Mirror Shield, and the Master Sword will be waiting on the beach. (No more annoying shells.) However, if you use the code to gain the Mirror Shield, the ghost will never haunt you. If you want to be haunted later, turn off the code and get the Fighter's Shield. The Master Sword, however, doesn't interfere with the Ghost, so turn the code on before you touch the sword.
Sent in by Garret B 222-229 You should have the Sword and the feather. If you swipe your sword, You will have the power to... walk through walls!!! To stop walking through walls, jump up once. You can walk through walls on to the next screen. On the over world map, you'll go to the next screen, but in dungeons, buildings, caves and any thing like that, You'll go to a "almost Random place." Almost random as in that you can make a map and it will always be the same. WARNINGS: -Sometimes, the game will lock up. just reset, it won't hurt anything. -Also, watch out for screens with holes on the sides (i.e., the telephone booth). -Like above, if you dont have flippers, don't go to a spot with water on the edge. -Never take a trading item except the Magnifying Glass if you find it in a cave!!!! Later, when you go to get your Magnifying Glass, it won't be there!!!!
