Become a Rhino

Sent in by Shawn Schafer You can become a Rhino before entering the tower: Start with an Albatros. Fight the bandit and you should get meat, eat it and you will become an Oni. Eat meat from a Zombie and you will become a Phantom. Eat meat from a Wererat and you will become a Rhino.

Su-Zaku tip

Sent in by George Junior To defeat Su-Zaku (at the end of the train) easily. Use the saw. It will kill him in 1 hit. Click here

Get the N.Bomb and Book of Flare

Sent in by Dracandros As you are in the highest levels of the Tower, there is a subworld with a bunch of dead people. "Talk" to the dead child in the very bottom right to see his diary entry. You won't be informed of an item gain, but if you check your inventory (and it wasn't full beforehand) you'll have the N.Bomb, which does massive damage one time to all enemies. Also in the high tower levels is a room with a bookshelf with info about Ashura and Creator. You can walk up through one of the middle stacks into a secret room with a Book of Flare.

Find the Hyper

Sent in by Dracandros In the Skyscraper ruled by Su-Zaku, in the room with an invisible maze in a large square brick wall section, one secret path leads to a room with a chest containing Hyper. Hyper normally costs 100000 GP, for good reason - it has 3 charges, each use instantly kills all enemies in battle, even the Fiends, with the exception of Ashura, the second incarnation of Su-Zaku, and Creator.

HP200 tip

Sent in by Dracandros If using Human characters, after you max out their HP with the most expensive HP-plus items after being dropped to the ground floor again, go to the town with the statue of Hero. You can buy a ton of HP200 cheap (comparatively by this point of the game), each one will increase your human's HP by 1... raise it all the way to 999.

Beat Su-Zaku before the train

Sent in by Dracandros Su-Zaku can be killed before the train. But it's pointless to try since you get nothing for it, he'll inflict massive damage on your party in the process and the game will ignore the fact that you killed him.

Find Byak-Ko

Sent in by Dracandros In the cloud civilization, there is a hidden city in the northeast of the world. On a 2x2 patch of cloud, fly into the lower left corner. You'll enter the secret base of the rebellion against Byak-Ko, which is most notable for the fact that you can buy Books of Flare from the item shop.

Tower tip on saving

Sent in by Dracandros Save your game every step on the highest floor of the inside of the Tower, the path to Ashura, not only because of the strong enemy fights but because some squares are invisible pitfalls back to the lower floor.

Sound test

Sent in by Matt Hilger Press and Hold Select, Down, and A for a few seconds for a sound test.

Strong punches

Sent in by Matt Hilger Buy and equip 2 packs of punches. Start using one pack until there is only one use left. Then start using the second pack. As long as there is one punch left in the first one, the second one will do a ton more damage!

Building up stats

Sent in by Disco D This game is amazingly easy with four mutants. It doesn't matter what race they are. Here's what you do to build up stats, hit points, and powers really quickly: Go southeast from the start of the game, into the cave where you will find the Bandit. In that cave there are creatures where, if you touch them while walking or try to talk to them, will greet you with a fight scene of 1-3 Lizards. These are easy to kill, so just keep doing that for a while. Once you finish the fight scene, the creature will go back to where it starts from. Put your character near that spot and you will always be able to hit another fight scene when you are finished with one. Stats will go up like crazy, and one character which used to be higher in strength may become higher in agility, so pack plenty of Hammers and Rapiers or weapons like that for the journey. Also, since each Mutant can use magic, bring a Rod (can be bought in Base Town for 1000 GP). Sometimes the characters will get powers such as Gas, Fire, and Ice which will kill or at least damage all of the Lizards in the group. I have had games where all of my mutants will reach 999 HP, and some will even get straight 99's in their stats (including defense!! That does go up gradually, too!). They will also gain immunity to spells (spells like Fire, Ice, Elec, etc. will not cause damage), and this is not displayed on the data screen. This is definitely the best party to beat the game with, and also one of the least expensive since you don't have to buy stat increasers! As you fight the Lizards, you will get more GP so when your mana reaches 99, buy magic spells.

Character tips

Sent in by Jeff White I've found that the game can be really easy if you start the game with 4 human characters. The characters will start off fairly weak, but since you can buy hit point, strength, and agility potions from the very beginning, they can become very strong, very quickly. Hp200 is a cheap way to raise your hps at the beginning of the game, it's only useful until you hit 200 hps, but at 200 gold a shot, it is really useful. Strength and Agility potions sell for 300 gold a piece. Early on this seems expensive, but when you start getting 500+ gold per fight, you can build your stats fairly quickly. By the time you hit the 4th world your characters should be nearing 99 in strength and agility. Since many groups of enemies give thousands of gold, stats and hps should not be a problem. The monsters are all fairly easy to kill with powerful weapons and stats maxed out. If you insist on having magical backup, use 1 mutant and 3 humans. The mutant will not advance in power as fast as the humans, but (s)he will be able to use the useful healing spells (not to mention 'flare.')

Finding the real red orb

Sent in by John Jacques When you are at the underground water place, in the room where you have to find the real orb, to find it go to the upper right section, next press left twice. After this press down once. Now just press A and you will find the real orb.
