Lost In Blue is a complex yet satysfying game in which you control a boy named Keith on a death-defying quest to stay alive on a deserted island, along with a girl named Skye. I will divide this review into five parts. Story, Graphics, Sound/Music, Controls, and Replay Value.
Story(4/5) You and that other girl are on a cruise ship that is destroyed during a great storm, and you're the only two survivors. I think the story could be a little better. When you explore the island, you'll see there is hardly any life(except in the Grasslands), but no one ever attacks you. It's like you landed on the world's safest island! Someone call Guiness World Records or something!
Graphics(5/5) For an early DS game the graphics are very impressive. You can see Konami put alot of detail in the textures likes rocks, water, even the bark on trees! As an added bonus, the game is top-down, so there are no annoying camera angles to get in the way.
Sound/Music(5/5) One word: Wow. The sounds and music really fit the mood of a tropical island, especially the day to night transition. There isn't any music in many areas(except your shelter, the cave.) But the music doesn't get annoying. And now for the sounds. You can actually hear the rives rush, the ocean aganist the coast, and even birds chirping. Now that is realism.
Controls(4/5) Now the controls could have been a little better. I only give controls a four because sometimes touch screen control cand be iffy. Besides that, you can move your character okay, and that's what counts. I also like the fishing mini-game. That's pretty fun as well.
Replay Value(5/5) This section gets a full score. Once you complete the boy's story, you get to play as the girl(Skye). But you'd better get your patience up to par, because you'll need a lot of it in this mode. You can't even get out of the Beach area because Keith brakes her glasses at the beginning. Hey, accidents happen. And if you can get through that mode, there's the all awsome Challenge mode. I know what happens, but if I say anything, it'd spoil things for those who have'nt played yet.
In conclussion, Lost in Blue is an excellent addition to any DS library. But good luck finding a copy, however. The game has been discontinued, and if you do find a copy, be prepared to pay a large fee of money. I bought it for 19.99 when it first came out, but my friend waited(big mistake), and had to pay at least 39.99... But I whole heartidly reccomend this game. Can youu escape the blue?
