After you defeat Julius for the 3rd and final time, he dies, but the Tree Mana is destroyed with him. The Girl's mother appears and you learn that she actually the Tree. She is dying, and the world will end without a new Tree of Mana. The Girl agrees, as the last of the Mana Family to become the new Tree, and parts from the Hero. Her mother asks the Hero to guard her well, then both vanish in a flash of light.

The epilogue shows the Hero revisiting some of the places and people he met in his adventure. Finally, he returns Chochobo to his family.

The final screen shows the Mana Seedling in a ray of light.
