Can you defeat the first 8 levels of the game without getting a sword, not even the wooden one?

Can you beat Ganon without the Red Ring?

How far can you get without getting the sword from the guy in the cave at the beginning. You can actually get pretty far, I got to the fourth castle!

Beat the first quest without a sword (you must have the magic sword to kill Ganon) or the medicine.
