Lerune, Zelda's cousin, would be a character you would find trapped in a hidden cave. After beating Dodongo, the boss guarding her, you walk up to her and she tells you who she is and that Gannon had her captured because she saw where he took Zelda. Then she thanks you for freeing her and says she will help you fight against Gannon. She could then be controlled by the second player. Also, when you find her, you instantly get the blue-ring.

Lank is Link's brother, who has three staffs: the Regular Staff (equivalent to Regular Sword of Link), the Fire Staff (equivalent to White Sword), and the Bolt Staff (equivalent to Magic Sword).

Lank has a pet, Lash, who is found about half-way through the game. Lash stands straight up on two legs, like a human, but is only as intelligent as a gorilla. He is what Lank calls a Goman or Hurilla (in Goman, Go is from gorilla, man from human; in Hurilla, Hu is from human, Hurilla from gorilla) Lank wears a red suit instead of green at the beginning, and it becomes yellow when Link's would become white with the Blue Ring. After that it becomes green as Link's becomes red with the Red Ring.
